Interesting more flexible alternative to the tascam CRW-750
Initially I got this because I found it as a good deal And I wanted to expand the studio a bit instead of recording to the same old tascam CRW750. My 2nd one of those just died, and I found this and thought it looked interesting. I couldn't find much information at all about it, except that it was worth way more than a $269 that I spent. The updated model goes for 11 or $1200 :)
So far, I love it. It's curious it makes a little bit of noise when its on, but I tried recording to CDR and Flash and works great. It's nice that it has excellere and RCA inputs and outputs. Haven't tried writing to the other cards as of yet.
And all-in-one rack space. The most curious but coolest thing about it is the wired remote. At 1st I thought it was silly, but I've gotten quite used to it sitting by my left hand and running the unit as it sits right next to my X32 running pro tools :)
If you find one, I'd pick it up. They are rare and probably for good reason as It seems to be well made and people wouldn't want to get rid of it. Just don't think it ever caught on?
Makes me happy to have done a Tascam add for their Original digital Multi track recorders that came out around the time of the DA88.

Streamline computers effectively
Simple hookup, works well with my 3 Macintosh computers all with different operating systems and my Dell running Windows.
Haven't used the hot key function, just push the buttons on the front of the unit.
Be aware that you do need male to female 15 pin VGA cables. Most VGA cables are male to male. Found some Elsewhere on eBay inexpensively and once hooked up worked like a charm!
Well-made sturdy construction, had it for a week and a half and it's working great. It certainly beats using 4 mice and 4 keyboards and 4 monitors!
