Buy a used NVG510. Then return original (new) NVG510 for a full refund.

First, the review by 'newlightnetworks' is totally false. When you subscribe to Uverse, you have to buy (from AT&T or someone else) a modem/router. That device then belongs to you. Moreover, if you install a fully reset modem/router, the Uverse service automatically downloads your proper configuration into the device. Here is what happened to me: I ordered Uverse service. The technician installed the service, including a brand-new NVG510 modem/router, but informed me that this device costs $100 (which would be added to my bill). I then quickly ordered a used NVG510 modem/router off eBay. When it arrived, I fully reset it, then swapped it into my network. Within minutes it was working perfectly, without any need for manual configuration. I then returned the original NVG510 for a full $100 refund.
