Fun and bilingual
This book has Piet Hein's "Grooks" in it in English and also in Danish. The verses are very clever, often insightful, and fun. Great book!

Good overview for a beginner
A good overview for self-study or guided study. It gives you a chance to work on listening comprehension, reading, writing, and understanding grammar. It also has dialogues that can be used in a classroom to help with pronunciation and general speaking skills.
Downside is that sometimes the words used in the early chapters are more complicated to understand than they seem. This is where a teacher can help.

Good Dictionary for serious students wanting to learn Danish.
Pros: Gives grammar info, goes more in-depth about use of various prepositions with verbs, gives idiomatic meanings, provides multiple meanings per word when appropriate, helps with spelling of course, has a lot of info about most words. Cons: does nothing to help with pronunciation (in the English-to-Danish dictionary by hte same publishers, they give the International Phonetic Alphabet symbols to help Danes know how to pronounce English words, but they do not provide anything to English speakers learning Danish. This is unfortunate because the spellings of Danish words (as in English) are often very different than their pronunciations).
