Heavy duty pump
This pump will run continuously but my original one listed 5 years of intermittent use of several hours on various days. Apparently they have a indeterminate lifetime according to conditions of use etc andmy local aquatics supplier. Don't let this put you off because mine worked in difficult conditions in a pond choked up with roots, so I feel well satisfied with its performance. It will pump solids, ie algae and other pond growth that will pas the grid type filter on the end. Cleaning and maintenance is minimal and easy, instructions are easy to follow. You need to cobble up a filter to stop the tails of fish and newts getting sucked in - I set my pumps (I have two) in baskets you would plant aquatic plants in, these are cheap and are full of small holes allowing water through. Fix them together with cable clips. They can be cleaned with a jet of water while still in the pond.
Failure of the pump was gradual and intermittent making it difficult at times to decide which of my two pumps of this type or two others were on the blink. I finally succeeded when the pump regularly shut down for 1 hr, then 3/4 hr then 15 min when isolated. It was overheating I suppose. This pump cannot be repaired.

A creationist view
The author is a creationist who applies the biblical story of creation by God of the Grand canyon in six days. He thus claims that the fossils and rock strata are only 6000 years old. Even as a Christian I find this to be over simplistic as the age and formation of geologic features are reasonably well understood by science, geologic evolution and in my view common sense to be millions of years old, even though some of it’s history is not yet fully understood.
However, it is still in my view all God’s work. The author applies the biblical theory literally. You have to make up your own mind though and admire the authors sincerity and honesty in taking the stance he does. We are left wondering what the bible actually means by creation in six days given that Genesis was written by Moses hundreds of years after the alleged event. The book is a worthwhile read to investigate the authors point of view and the photography is fantastic and awe-inspiring.
