UBLOX Neo 6m
The device suffers from randomly ceasing to work.
Even with a good view of sky, it stopped working after about 1 week, and hasn't worked since.
Relocating outdoors has not helped.
The onboard battery is also a problem - it needs to be charged for a couple of hours before it will lock. Up until that time, it will just report errors.
I am no longer using this in my prototype.

Endocharmic chemistry
1 of 1 found this helpful This is the classic book of chemical demonstrations for teachers.
It is well written, clear, and easy to follow. There is a good amount of background material with it, so each demonstration is self contained, complete, and you wont be stuck for words when speaking to your class or audience.
A lot of the stuff in it is interesting for historical reasons: the days of the slightly mad old chemistry teacher combusting peroxyacetone or ammonium dichromate are long gone. The same is also true for the detonation of ammonium triiodide. Nowadays, we just you-tube these types of reaction in class, but you-tube doesn't have the technical depth. This book is extremely helpful in supplying that depth, especially to new teachers of chemistry.
This volume contains experiments on thermochemistry (bangs and stinks), chemoluminescence, polymers, and color and equilibria of metal ion precipitates and complexes. There are 3 other volumes in the set and they are all worth getting.

Conceptual Physics - great book
Conceptual physics is a great book. It is clearly written, and easy to follow. It is a good "dipper" book - not only useful as a textbook but great to dip into and read for pleasure.
When I was a kid, there was an Australian biology book called "The web of life". I aced my exams because of that book - when I got bored in history, I used to read the web of life. Hewitt's book is in the same category - if you set it as the textbook for your students, you are likely to receive complaints from other teachers that it is disrupting their lessons!
The little examples, thought problems, and photographs of physics contexts are excellent. I am already starting to build some of the things that I have seen in this book as demonstrations for next years class.
Great book, do buy it.
