No need for Strymon Timeline and Bigsky?
Here are a few features that sold me on this product over others:
Pros:
-Duel engine capability. 1 of each, 2 reverbs, or 2 delays provides so much potential for performing and recording. Basically two versatile effects pedals for the price of one with most of the same features and a much smaller footprint than the Bigsky or Timeline.
-100% wet reverbs. Essential for drones and ambient soundscapes.
-Trails mode (sort of)
-Freeze/infinite hold mode
-Expression/footswitch control
-Analog controls for quick changes (no distracting digital display)
-Reverse delay
-Simple and effective desktop editor for saving/loading presets
-Chorus and Flanger effects can be dialed in through the desktop editor by turning off the delay time.
Cons:
-No looper (which Strymon Timeline has!)
-No tremolo delay (which could easily be added with stereo)
-Some white noise added while engines are engaged.
-Trails/Transitions not smooth. There is some latency and currently no way to have trails continue when switching between presets. There is also often a loud pop when engines are changed.
-No bluetooth or wireless functionality for mobile. This means you have to use the pedal's input jack to load cloud stored presets, which often creates noise and feedback unless you mute or turn off the amp each time.
-Boring desktop interface which could have a lot more hidden features.
-Expression pedal can only control 3 parameters at a time.
-No external control over freeze mode. It would be very nice to use an external tap/expression pedal to toggle the freeze feature as opposed to holding it down the entire time for synth pad drones.
I would absolutely recommend this product for the amount of features included for the size and price. The Strymon products might have a slight edge if you can justify spending $600 more for a few missing features.
