Coleman Feather 442A
The Coleman 442A is a good, all-around stove for backpacking and lightweight camping. Flame adjustment is not as controllable as on the earlier 440 stove with the separate flame control, but works reasonably well. The integral fuel tank will hold enough fuel for well over an hour burn time. It boils a pint of water in about 6 minutes, so more than enough for several 2-person meals, plus coffee or hot chocolate. The ability to burn unleaded gasoline really cuts the fuel cost. Coleman fuel is about $14.00 per gallon at my local hardware store and gas is less than $2.00 per gallon.
The Scouts in my son's troop use the MSR Whisperlite and Dragonfly stoves for backpacking trips. The Coleman is a little bulkier, but is simpler to use with all components and the tank integral to the stove. I have two very similar models of this stove and am pleased with their performance. Replacement parts are still available.
Don't know why Coleman is out of the business of making these good little stoves, but I'm a fan. Used 442A stoves on eBay in good condition are a great value, providing dependable service at a reasonable price.

Arrows of Fury; Empire II - Warfare and intrigue in Roman Britain.
Well written historical novel set in Roman Britain. Volume two of a series. First novel was interesting and whetted my appetite for the sequels.

Compact backpack for travel and touring
I purchased the Kelty Redwing 44 to use on the Camino de Santiago and as a travel bag/backpack. I have several other Kelty backpacks (vintage external frame packs that I use for backpacking) and the Redwing 44 provides a more compact format to use where carrying a tent and cold weather gear is not required. Typical Kelty quality materials and construction. Several external pockets that are easily accessed. Two mesh water bottle pockets. No waist belt pockets but webbing loops for attaching items to the waist belt and to the bottom of the pack.
