Basic Training in Math : A Fitness Program for Science Students by R. Shankar
    Dec 08, 2015
A Fitness Program ONLY if You are Already Fit
Well written in informal style. This treatment is ONLY for science students who already have a strong background in math. This text is more of a refresher course, NOT basic training. After one is well adapted to the following subjects, this text is excellent in refreshing the concepts and equations in the reader: Calculus, Complex numbers, Vectors & Vector calculus, Matrices, and Linear vector spaces. I am at a loss how any student in a first year physics course would understand the Taylor Series. Perhaps all the subjects I just mentioned should be taught in the first year of college. Then, begin physics 101 in the second year of college. Only the brightest (or wealthy students who could afford to attend superior high schools/prep schools) would comprehend this book.

Comprehensive, yet written in plain language
Easy to read and understand nuclear physics, unlike boring textbooks.

    Cosmology
    Cosmology without the math. Great.
