Not Your Typical Organization Book
2 of 3 found this helpful The only reason I am not grading this a 5-star book is that I have not completed the process and have yet to see if the reality matches the dream, although I have been inspired to get my act together by this book.
The approach is a little different, in that she treats your possessions like animate objects and encourages you to thank them for their service to you and then release them on to something else, but it is actually sort of freeing to imagine setting my things free to fulfill their potential in someone else's life. I no longer imagine the WASTE of my things being discarded, but the POTENTIAL to make someone else happy.
I also think that her approach may serve me better than the "clean one room at a time" method everyone has been pushing on me for so long. That hasn't worked at all, and so much of what Kondo says does make sense.
I am looking forward to this process now!
