Guilty Conscience (DVD) Anthony Hopkins, Blythe Danner, Swoosie Kurtz

most-watchable DVD I've found of this intriguing made-for-TV movie

If there is a really GOOD quality DVD of Guilty Conscience out there, I've yet to find it. But of the three different versions I purchased looking for one, I think this one by Digiview Productions, in the slim case, fares best. The brief opening scene is pretty bad visually - very faded and ghost-imagey - but it gets better after that. It was watchable, and the sound was OK. But don't expect anything close to commercial-grade quality. As for the movie itself, it's lots of fun - like watching a very elongated first act of a Columbo episode, before Columbo ever makes his first entrance. I would recommend it for Levinson-and-Link fans if you don't pay too much for it. For the $6 I spent, including shipping, I'm happy to have it.

acceptable DVD of very good made-for-TV movie

This DVD produced by Madacy Entertainment Group, Ltd., is one of three different DVD versions of Guilty Conscience that I bought in my attempt to find a really GOOD quality version of this nifty little made-for-TV movie. My conclusion: there are no really good DVDs available. But this one is OK, and certainly watchable. The brief opening scene is very faded and ghost-imagey, but it gets better after that. I think it is worth the $6 I paid for it. I would recommend it for Levinson-and-Link fans; it's like watching a very long first act of a Columbo episode, before Columbo comes on the scene. Lots of fun.
