Two words - it works!

I have tried so many garlic presses, it's ridiculous...most hand held presses are designed so that as you squeeze, the plate that presses the garlic through the holes comes in at an angle. This doesn't really give you the pressure you need to easily press the garlic. This IKEA model has what I call a plunger - the plate that's pressing the garlic is suspended on a hinge, and will always be in horizontal alignment with the holes, like coming in with a straight-on hammer stroke. SO, much more leverage, much greater ease in getting the job done.

Good price, works fine, a little larger than I'd like.

The immersion blender works fine, and I've only been using it for light use - haven't tried ice crushing or anything. The bell-shaped blade cover does make a big difference, much less splatter than a previous hand blender I'd been using. My only disappointment is it's a bit larger than I like, and, I couldn't find any dimensions pre-purchase. The diameter of the blade enclosure is about 2.75" - would have preferred a little smaller.
