The Loveliness of Christmas- Alive in Mitford
I always read Christmas stories before that glorious day. My daughter-in-law got me started on the Mitford series in the summer, and I have since collected every one from Ebay and Half.com This is life as it should be with the ups and downs of a small town, the best and the follies of human nature. Shepherds Abiding is the best fictional Christmas story I have read. Possibly because I always feel at home in Mitford but also because Jan Karon always draws you in with a feeling of homecoming. In Shepherd's Abiding, Fr. Tim takes on a job he never expected to have the time or talent for and it is touch and go as to whether he will finish in time. Many of the town's characters are about with the spirit of Christmas as well. There was nothing I disliked about it. I loved it and was sorry it was over at the end. It is the next to the end of the Mitford series. Readers probably need to read one or two of the Mitford series before reading this book to get the full effect. However, Shepherd's Abiding stands on it's own.

Dancing With God
This book spoke to me and helped me understand what I was feeling along the journey of faith. Being an Episcopalian, it was very relevant to me but I believe it fits the faith of any Christian. It is written as an easy read and the language is lovely. I purposed one for the library at my church in hopes it would speak to others. I purchased this copy as a gift to a friend. Ebay rocks on book prices!
