Apple to Venu
Having had an Apple series 1 watch for 5+ yrs I wanted something different as the newer Apple series from a design and battery point of view hadn’t changed much. The Venu 2 seemed to tick a lot of boxes with the AMOLED touch screen, circular bezel, a raft of well-being functions and a battery life that makes you wonder where you last put the charging cable. The Venu 2 has lived up to expectations but hasn’t surpassed them. The Apple watches are very well polished and a tad more intuitive to use, the Venu 2 is more focused though with a great Connect App showing a one stop shop dashboard to view your data whereas Apple is trying to be everything to everyone the Garmin is much more dedicated to using the sensor readings coming from your wrist. The Heart rate sensor is great, a definite night n day from the series 1 and the movement detection seems more sensitive/accurate too when viewing the health data (which you’re more likely to do as more focused and there’s less distractions with the data on your watch as well as in the Connect app).
Overall a lovely watch to own and a step up in many ways from the Apple Watch but only in respect of well-being tracking and exercise functions. If you’re happy to give up a few of the Apple Watch’s phone on your wrist type capabilities then make the change, you won’t be disappointed. The Venu 2 plus is another option that bridges the gap further between taking the leap away from Apple but then goes in the cost comparison bracket of a Series 7. You’ll need to really want a change to step into the world of Garmin for that kind of money.
