New to wooden ship modeling? Buy this book!
I bought Ship Modeling Simplified because I recently began building plastic model sailing ships (this year) and I've decided to move on to a wooden kit. I was looking for some overall information about the tools to have, general construction, and especially rigging. This book has a LOT of information! It's especially helpful beacuse so many wooden kits are Italian or Spanish, and the instructions are cryptic and poorly translated....Mastini's book helps with a general understanding of the processes involved, AND it includes a good translation of many terms in English... Plenty of advice and suggestions for creating a workstation, helpful tips for making your own tools and jigs, and lots of tips to make things easier! I highly recommend it for people who are beginning to build wooden model kits. I will mention that it doesn't go into great detail on every subject, and if you want very specific instruction, you will probably want to get a couple of other books to add to your collection, but I think this book is very valuable *tool* to have!
Martin FX740 SP Flexible Core Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings
    Nov 07, 2015
    Great tone, and flexibility!
I've tried many, many different types of strings on my acoustic guitar, and these Martin Flexible Core SP (formerly sold as FX) lights are my go-to set these days. They offer minimal tension on the neck , so that action can be kept pretty low. Whatever makes them *flexible* works to improve the ease of playing, and bending notes. They aren't noticeably *stretchy* or anything like that, but they just don't have that stiffness that is common with a lot of strings. The tone is great, very clear mids and highs. The only thing is the low-end bass notes aren't quite as pronounced as say, standard light gauge Martin SP strings. They're not wimpy, but they just have a little less bass. Just a little less. They're fast, easy, and great-sounding strings. Give them a try...just remember you may want to lower your action just a bit to get all the benefits of their playability.
