old reliable standby
i don't want to award 4 stars if that suggests this is better than expected.
i have been able to catch a few rats with these after having bad luck with my live-catch type.
i don't like to kill them but don't know what else to do.
raccoons also come around here so i made a box to place the trap in that is long enough to prevent their arms from reaching it.
a generations-old method but relatively effective.

these are not brass!
these are advertised and labeled as brass but they are not.
i was looking for something i could use outside that would not rust and was disappointed to discover that a magnet will pick these things up.
i haven't opened the package so really have no experience with them but assume the quality is ok.
i guess people just misuse the term brass the way they do with things like "Scotch" tape for masking tape and "wheat" for brown bread as if white bread isn't made from wheat too.
still don't know where to obtain brass thumbtacks.

ok but doesn't fit today's larger diameter rods
i think i had to wait awhile for this to arrive from China.
the description should have mentioned the fact that this clutch appears to be intended for 1/4" rods and will not fit today's larger diameters. i tried drilling out one of these to use on a friend's hi hat but enlarging the hole so that the item can slip onto a larger rod results in extremely thin walls and can even make a hole in the clutch. item seems to work as expected on thinner rods.
