Perfect starter DSLR
3 of 3 found this helpful Extremely high quality pictures right out of the box. The auto settings and scene modes make breathtaking photos a breeze. Pentax photo imaging common sense processing means fewer blown highlights. You get to see the detail or brighten the picture to your own taste. Loads of manual overrides and custom/manual settings available as your photography skills grow.
This is no toy entry level DSLR. The camera has a metal frame and mount and feels every bit a tough, well thought out piece of equipment. Just hold one in your hands and compare to any other brand. The difference is stark.
Compatible with every Pentax lens ever made and with Shake Reduction in the body this means ALL lenses have SR capability without the $R price tag. Just set the focal length and you're golden. I have 40 year old manual focus Takumar screw mount lenses - SR for every one of them. Photography is a dream again!
I'm an old newspaper photographer so quite typically shoot under poor lighting & weather conditions. This camera is weather sealed, and with the proper DA* weather sealed lens I've got a rugged professional grade camera setup that can take the elements with ease.
I don't think you can come up with a more valuable feature set and better performance for twice the price. Excellent gear!

Vivitar 28mm 2.8 Close Focus for Pentax

There are several versions of the Vivitar 28mm, this is the Close Focus model made for Vivitar by Komine. Komine is also the maker of several Series 1 lenses with the Vivitar name. Though not marked as a Series 1, this lens may have been a precursor to the line. Build quality is excellent, optice are sharp, precise, and exhibit few artifacts. Color reproduction is true, with no detectable 'blow out' of the red or yellow spectrum. Flare & chromatic abberation are well controlled as they are in most all of the old manual focus Pentax Multi-Coated lenses.
The 28mm focal length makes this lens nearly ideal for use indoors for social events or other confined situations where separation from your subject is difficult, or where a wider field of view is desired. I have not put the close focus capability to use as yet, but I'm sure it will be fantastic based on the resolution capabilities of this bit of glass.

Great Replacement for 2" factory pipe.
Direct fit replacement for the stock pipe. The resonators quieted a bit of drone my car had with the original version and my aftermarket mufflers. Don't know how long it will last, but the factory version was on there for 17 years.
