Beautiful illustrated book Watership Down 2nd edition
1 of 1 found this helpful Ok so I’ve always been a big fan of the original animated film as I watched it as a child. So I finally think I should read the book. I purchased the current up to date version and at the beginning is a piece by the author explaining a bit more about how the book came to life. He goes on to say how much he struggled to get a publisher to pick it up etc and about the various editions printed over the years once it was published. He mentioned the second edition with its illustrated text and slipcover and I was hooked. I just had to have one. Being a book printer I have a special appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into more complex titles. This book is beautifully illustrated in colour throughout, quarter bound hardback with a slipcover and jacket. What’s more I am truly amazed at how authentic the original movie is to Richards text. Many of the dialogue sequences are lifted straight from it. Thoroughly enjoying reading it!
