Only for Metal, not for Rock
2 of 26 found this helpful I would have loved this amp back when I played in a death metal band but the scoop, mid sweep and drive frequencies don't allow for full chord clarity and harmonics to come through. If you like whistling strings, chug chug, in your face punch, than this is the amp for you. Would be nice to hear what an EL34 conversion from the 6L6's would sound like although its just easier to buy a Blackstar or Hughes & Kettner to get that step up from Marshall tone while maintaining a good rock guitar tone with a more versatile range.
Two stars because its only good for one thing and the one thing its good at is better than Mesa Boogie at metal but in reality nothing else.

High quality
2 of 2 found this helpful After trying out several new processors, including the TC Electronics G-Major, the discontinued MPX G2 out did them all in both sound, quality and durability. This unit is most definitely a robust system that was built to last a long time. Save a lot of time and money. Skip the G-major and all the software issues that come with it and pick up an MPX G2, you will not regret it.
