Best torch for the serious home cook.
This kitchen torch deserves its high ratings. I was a little worried about ease of holding given the torch is attached directly to the butane canister, but it is very comfortable to work with. Once on, it stays lit without needing to keep the ignition trigger pressed, and the diameter of the butane container is easy for me, as a 5'5'' woman, to hold. The flame is easily adjustable for any strength flame. The "full-blast" flame is direct and strong - great for creme brûlée. A softer flame is just right for meringues. The torch top stays attached to the butane canister until the canister is empty. I haven't used one up yet but one canister supposedly last for an hour or more (per the manufacturer). The torch comes with a plastic oval base for the butane canister, and I find that useful. This is perfect for the serious home cook. You don't need a bigger torch head, and the smaller refillable one I had never had a flame half as powerful as this, plus, it was a hassle to refill. I use the same brand butane canisters as the torch, Iwatani. Great product. Highly recommend.
