Reducing Cable Costs
Was paying for TV service at two locations, bought the box to eliminate one. Decided to stay with Xfinity because of their Xfinity ToGo App (aka Stream) works well on the IPad, laptop, and Android phone (you cannot not cast from the phone or iPad, just the laptop). At first, I tried to get the Sling Box to work with Xfinity's small cable box in the back bedroom that's is not used much (by Arris), no luck so I put it in the living room on Xfinity's bigger cable box (by Cisco) -- connected instantly and easy to setup. I have it connected to the router via Ethernet cable and have access to all my Xfinity channels wherever I am on my phone or iPad, but can only cast the phone to a big tv. I was even able to watch my shows via someone's slow DSL isp, although the picture is best on faster isps. Sound is good also, I highly recommend the Sling Box. Also, keep the power plugged in on phone, iPad, etc when watching tv from your Sling box.
