Actually lives up to the hype.
When a lens gets the kind of hype this one does, you assume it must be mostly just that - hype. Turns out there really is something about this lens that transcends the usual. I have a Super Takumar 50 f1.4 that is another magical lens, so maybe it is just the large aperture, but not all fast lenses can “paint” a picture like this. It is a bit slow and noisy, but not too bad, and I’m used to manual anyway. Gonna keep this one, no doubt. Plus, it’s one of the very few lenses compatible with stc clip-in filters, so that’s now an option again.
