Not recommended
I use these in standard AC halogen lamps. The power consumption is really 3W, the color of light is warm but it's rather dim in comparison to a 20W standard G4 halogen bulb.
All in all this would not be too bad if its lifetime reached the halogen's. In fact for me this took only few days to burn out (This had good ventilation not under glass).
Sorry to say but in this regard it is just a waste of money. Perhaps silicone is a bad thing because of heat insulation.
