You will absolutely need the console cable to configure this switch. During their refresh process Cisco apparently installed a firmware without the webadmin page so there is no way to login to the switch with telnet, ssh, or http/s otherwise. After some getting a newer firmware ( get the .tar version ) from Cisco and using a console cable to install it via TFTP the switch has the full web admin and ssh can be used. Unknown longevity on this, but it is Cisco so it'll probably go the distance.
