Thumbs Up for Sterno Liquid Paraffin Lantern Fuel
1 of 1 found this helpful I have a collection of over 100 kerosene lamps and lanterns. A gift of 2 railroad lanterns started me off 6 years ago and I enjoy this hobby.
Every so often I want to burn a lantern indoors. I have many different lamp oils and almost all of them will leave kerosene like odors in the room.
I tried this Sterno paraffin oil on a lark. My smell test lantern if a Feuerhand Baby #276. I cleaned the fuel tank thoroughly and installed a new wick. I was pleasantly surprised that the Sterno burned well with very little detectable odor. I let the lantern burn for 14 hours and was happy to find that Sterno was a great product.
The gallon sold for $28 delivered. That is a similar price as kerosene in quart bottles at my local store. Kerosene at my local filling station is $5.50 a gallon, and that's my everyday outdoor lantern fuel.
But for the times I might want to burn my old Dietz 999 railroad lantern or my brass 1890 Tubular indoors, I will fuel them with Sterno liquid paraffin.

Alla H4 9003 Cob LED Headlights
2 of 2 found this helpful These are awesome and bright, easy to install. My only complaint is that my ''headlight bowl'' is not designed for the 3 strips of LED's and there are very obvious dark (dim) spots in the beam. HOWEVER.... it should be noted that I installed the bulb in my BOAT spotlight in place of the halogen H-4 bulb. The light is much whiter and further reaching than the old bulb. I will keep the Alla LED in the spotlight regardless of the dark spots as it is overall much better than the halogen gas tungsten filament bulb. I can easily pan the spotlight to view a broad area and light the areas where the LED's dark spots are. I have yet to test the amperage drawn by the LED's as compared to the halogen bulbs. The spotlight lens is clear glass with no frosted or ridged glass light distribution ribs like in an automotive headlight lens. This no doubt exaggerates the dim spots.
I installed the other LED bulb in my Thor-X large home spotlight. It has the same dark spots but the light is so much brighter and further reaching that I'm not complaining. It stays. A minor clearance issue required me to grind some plastic legs away at the rear of the bulb as the Alla LED unit is slightly longer than the regular H-4 bulb due to the cooling fan. I can also hear the cooling fan running now. The run time on the light is also longer using the 12 volt 8AH battery to power the LED than the original bulb. I didn't do a current flow test yet but everything indicates that the Alla uses less amperage to run and puts out more light. This spotlight also has a clear glass lens which is likely why the dark spots are visible.
