Great pitcher
Almost the perfect pitcher. Lid fits snugly, spout pours perfectly without dripping, essentially indestructible ... a lifetime purchase if you don't wantonly abuse it. My only wish is that it would be translucent. The newer ones are but apparently are not otherwise up to snuff.

Eh...
Aspires to do too much. I suppose it's a good overview, but it's a little short on detail. To be expected. More city maps would be nice. I don't think you can adequately cover a country the size of Germany in 400 pages.

Beam me back to my grandmother's kitchen, Scotty!
My grandmother was Pennsylvania Dutch, and much of what she made is in this book. Gram's tiny kitchen didn't sparkle with granite, tile, stainless, and select hardwoods. It just turned out fabulous food with her at the helm. This is cooking where the principle spices are salt and pepper, used to enhance the wonderful gustatory interaction of basic fresh ingredients. Much of the best of American country cooking is represented here. This is a must have book for any good cook's kitchen.
