Great story of baseball during America's transforming years
In very readable fashion, Sridhar Pappu tells the fascinating story of two enigmatic baseball players during the turbulent late 60's. Latent racism, revolutionary politics, and cultural transformation serve as a build-up and backdrop to the incredible season. Bob Gibson and Denny McClain could not be more compelling characters, and their backgrounds and the cities they represent (St. Louis and Detroit) are described with insight. Extensive research and interviews add depth to the saga. A very good book!
