The Custer Myth
This book has many valuable first person accounts of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. It tells the story of the battle from the points of view of the participants from both sides. There are a few contradictions between some of the accounts but that is to be expected as no two people see things exactly the same way. It has maps and photographs that brought the whole battle to life for me - it put faces to names. The maps are on the whole very good but several are a bit too detailed to make the Key to them easy to use; others may be a bit dark but when you consider they were for the most part made 100 years ago. Also the hand drawn maps by some of the participants and onlookers are very informative. This is a very thick book and should be read in sequence rather than skipping here and there.
Well worth the shelf space in the Library of History Buffs who want to know the truth of what happened on June 25, 1876.

Archaeological Insights into the Custer Battle
0 of 1 found this helpful This is a great book for anyone interested in what artifacts have been found and what light they and their locations can shed on the Battle of the Little Bighorn. It is a bit technical in parts for the average reader but it is still very understandable and worth the time. It is a valuable addition to my Historical Book collection.
