An excellent medium zoom lens from Canon
This was bought used for my daughter to replace an older 75-300 Canon zoom for her EOS20D. This has better optics, IS and a zoom lock as well as being slightly more substantially built. It doesn't come up to the standard of my own 70-200/f4 L series lens but it was considerably cheaper, more compact and lighter. So all in all, a good buy.

Excellent
This was to replace one in my caravan which seemed more like a 4mm socket than a 3.5mm one. Pleased with it, makes much better connection with my Bluetooth receiver I plug into it.

A rare book about a little now genius
Harry Weslake is a little know engineer whose company ended up in Rye in East Sussex. I heard of him first in Formula 1 racing in 1967 when an American, Dan Gurney, commissioned him to make a 3 litre v12 engine. This was done and installed in one of the prettiest Grand Prix cars ever IMHO. Then a friend went to do summer vacation work there from his engineering degree.
Jeff Clew's book covers this great man's life and work admirably and it is amazing just what he has been involved in over a very full life. For instance he redesigned the cylinder head shape of the BMC A series engine used in millions of cars from the early 50s Morris Minor and Austin A35 up to fairly recent times.
The book is very readable and gives a good insight into this fascinating man. It's been out of print for years and I was lucky, like Harry Weslake, to find one in pristine condition after all this time.
