A little gem
This is a precision product and must be treated with respect when handling and servicing. These early locomotives are subject to hard oil syndrome (HOS) even if they have never been used. This freezes all the internal gear wheels resulting in a non operating locomotive. The locomotive can be cleaned using ultrasound devices and then lubricating sparingly with a lightweight oil such as La Belle 108. Once this is done, providing there is no damage to the connecting rods, etc, the locomotive will run beautifully. This locomotive ran out of the box so had been serviced prior to sale. I gave it a service just to make sure and then gently ran it in. It joins my existing stable of eight Marklin mini-club USA steamers. Plenty of information on these locos and rolling stock on search engines and YouTube.

Retro pleasure
As a keen ammeter video maker, I already owned and used a Canon XM-2 for over 12 years. I also use XM-1’s as my main camcorder for projects. However, the XM-1’s have now reached their end of their lives due to failure of the internal battery and mechanical problems. My reason for purchasing another XM-2 is to provide dependable and reliably continuation of my investment in mini DV system.
A question most video makers’ would ask if this mini dv system still relevant. My answer is yes. Their are several videos on YouTube which agree with my opinion. You can still edit mini DVD’s on the latest computer equipment with relatively modest specs. With all its settings protected by a replacement button battery, dates up to 2030 and a special feel, it can provide years of pleasure. Quality is not HD but it can get near with upscaling
