The item was stuffed in a box that was too small for it ( without protective packaging), and then that box was placed in a box that was much too large (again without protective material). The outer box was broken open. It is fortunate that USPS put some extra tape on it or the item would have fallen out and been lost in transit. The level of packaging was not commensurate with the $12 shipping fee. Lucky that it worked.
