Seiko Reissue Delivers with minor drawbacks
2 of 2 found this helpful Released in late 2015, the Seiko SCED035 reissue is a compliment to the original Seiko Giugiaro 7A28-7000 used in the movie "Aliens." The case and links are steel and have a nice feel to them. The watch links have a 3 square milled out design which really adds to the overall industrial look of the watch. The weight is pretty hefty and it can be felt on the wrist. It is a good quality watch if you are a Aliens/Seiko fan and can look past the complaints. Limited to 3000 unit production and only released in Japan, there should be a healthy following on this watch. Seiko also released the Bishop (black version) of this piece if one prefers a darker color. I found the chronograph function to work really well with the extended pushers; they are functional like a dedicated stop watch some coach would use at a sporting event.
Complaints
- No lume or light function making this not a good choice if you need more than a fashion watch
- Chronograph pushers have too much lateral movement (in a $290 watch this is not acceptable)
- watch band known to pull hairs when sliding around wrist (though i personally haven't had too much of a problem in this area)
- Can be mistaken for a plastic watch due to finish
- Case made in China (at this price point it should be a Japanese Seiko)
- Hardlex Crystal watch glass (Sapphire Crystal would be ideal, though we typically don't see sapphire until about the $500 price point in Seiko Watches)
If you can look past the shortcomings this is a very cool collectors piece, would buy before price spike due to limited production.
