cave music
I love NAF music. I own a small but growing collection of flutes and play frequently... though certainly not at a professional level.
So, when Mary Youngblood was recommended to me, I bought this CD. I have several other recordings of flute music & am always ready to add to that.
This CD was recorded in a California cave and it consists of Youngblood solo on a selection of NA flutes. She plays very well, with lots of feeling, though I'm not sure I would call her a "female Carlos Nakai" as I've seen said elsewhere. Perhaps that is only due to this particular album and she sparkles more in her other offerings. I suppose it's too early for me to make that kind of global judgement.
This CD is well worth having in your collection, although I don't believe that I will ever rate it as one of my favorites.
There are 2 things that keep my enthusiasm for it temperate. I am not a fan of drone flutes. With drones, a very little goes a very long way for me. She has numbers on the CD where the only instrument is a solo drone (in a cave!). I simply don't like it... after about a minute the novelty of the odd sound wears off and it becomes monotonous if not downright irritating.
The other thing that keeps this CD from becoming one of my favorites is that there are very few even moderately lively songs included. Her technique is excellant and shows up well in the soulful numbers, but there are simply too many of them in one spot for me. When I listen to this CD I usually stick it into a playlist with a CD by Nakai and one by the Native Flute Ensemble then randomize the order. That keeps it from becoming too solemn.
In short, this is a good CD, well worth owning, but there are some drawbacks to it also.

More Balls to the Wall...
Not much to say, the replacement trackballs look and feel just like the original. Probly because they are?
I'm happy to have found this deal on them, because the other places I had seen them offered (new) had outrageous price tags! I mean, REALLY! I'm afraid that I have bought several of the M570 wireless mice since they came out but the blasted replacement balls cost almost as much as a brand new mouse!
Surely that's a bit much? Are they telling me that all the expensive tech is in the blasted ball?
So glad I found this site... My wireless mice have a bad habit of trying to commit suicide by a plunge to the floor, which knocks loose the ball & it makes a mad dash for cover under the heaviest bit of furniture it can find... reminds me of that old song line "& another one bites, & another one bites, & another one bites the dust..."
