Great addition to the SC world!
I had played the previous Soul Calibur games and 4 is pretty good as well. The tag system is fairly easy to use after a few tries, but the new buying system for clothes and weapons is new and a little annoying.
Also, they don't let you choose what weapon to use like they did in the previous games, but pair the weapon and the clothes together. To get a good character, there are a lot more things you can do, but it can get pretty annoying if you just want to play with a weapon you just bought because you don't have the stats or special abilities that comes with it.

A Standard Guide
It is comprehensive enough for the game, but some of the Pokemon did not have move sets and such printed in the book. I don't know if this is an error or they didn't have the info, but I would not call it an official guide if they don't even have the Poke-guide in the back filled up. (This is a slight problem because many of the legendary Pokemon do not have move sets, TM sets, or stats laid out in the book.)
I don't think it's worth it's $20 sold in stores, so if you want a guide, find it on ebay for cheaper.
