Using an unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9000 with Bell Canada
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased my BlackBerry Bold 9000 from a very genuine seller and it worked like a charm. But not everyone is so lucky. If system files got corrupted during the unlocking process or if the previous user inadvertently deleted important system files, data may never work on your BlackBerry.
Key things to keep in mind when choosing BlackBerry for Bell Mobility (Canada)
1. Buy from a genuine seller who regularly sells BlackBerries
2. Make sure your BlackBerry is HSPA compatible. Not all unlocked GSM BlackBerry will work with Bell's HSPA network.
3. After you put your SIM card, you can make calls and send texts. But data won't work. Call Bell to switch from your PDA plan (if you currently have one) to a BlackBerry plan - same price! If you don't have a PDA plan, get a new subscription.
Summary
Pros:
- Email, texting - very easy to type. Far better than Apple's iPhone
- Battery life
- Look and feel
- Push mail is lovely and easy to set up
- Call quality
- Media folder - very easy and intuitive
- Endless customization options
- Voice dialing is pretty good.
Cons:
- No youtube application for BlackBerry
- You can't read a PDF document on your BlackBerry unless you buy an app ($14+)
- Average camera - only 2.0 Mega pixels!
- Inability to create office documents
Overall, I am very satisfied with this phone. Very reliable and easy to use. It is definitely recommended for anybody who doesn't need to read many PDFs or create word documents on their phone.

Works but not the best quality and Touch ID doesn't work
The fitment is not great. There is a visible gap. While it is true that aftermarket home buttons won't work with Touch ID, the ad didn't mention it anywhere.
