I'm glad I read it, I just wish I'd have been forewarned.
Let me first say that I'm glad I read this book. It was worth the three weeks it took to process its contents.
I work with teens with autism so I understand where the author is coming from. However, this book is VERY difficult to read as every sentence is a run-on, the sentences within paragraphs do not often form cohesive thoughts, the direct of the author's thought processes is mind-numbingly uncertain, and her language borders on abusive toward the reader. Perhaps that is her way of expressing the torture that her life has been (which was actually a valuable and apt description of profound autism) but it leaves the reader confused and even frustrated.
I can say that my students' abilities are very closely aligned with the author's, and she did manage to put into words their (and my own) daily struggles to process the assaults on their senses. I can see why Temple Grandin recommended this book for parents and teachers of non-verbal, sometimes violent autistic children.
I'm glad I read it, I just wish I'd have been forewarned.

A must read!
This book is a must for every parent, caregiver, DSP and teacher of non verbal autistic teenaged boys!
It is easy reading and laid out in one and two page chapters, each answering a specific question. Though every child is different and does different things for different reasons, this book will help us neuro-typicals identify with the kids whom we love so much but struggle to understand.
I bought one for every educator on our team and all of them echo my sentiments!

A welcome country music sound!
This album has a pleasing country music sound, Danny has been through the death of his wife and writes amazingly hopeful lyrics. You must also get his Hope in Front of Me album, which is more pop and less country.
