    FLUKE 8842A AC AND GPIB/IEEE BRIGHT DISPLAY ACCURACY TESTED WITH BAIL HANDLE #1

    very dim display
    The instrument is a Fluke 8842A and is super accurate; however, the Vacuum Florescent Display is very dim contrary to what is shown in the photos. The digital camera enhanced the color of the display and it was claimed it was "bright". I would recommend the 8842A for measurements but be cautious buying a used unit.

    Terrific bargain bench DMM
    The 3478A shows the same value(s) as my Fluke 8842A and HP 3455A. It has turned into my go-to DMM. Highly recommended for the bench. The LCD display isn't "LED" bright but is clearly visible. These 3478A's are a terrific bargain if you find a clean one.

    works well, impressive...
    I acquired two of these mixers to use in a 20 MHz reference oscillator project. The plan was to split the output of a HP-10811 (10 MHz OCXO), phase shift the output 90 degrees and input the fundamental and the phase shifted signals into the RF and LO inputs of the AD831. After some experimenting with a passive phase shift topology, I was able to drive the AD831 and did get the 20 MHz output. After band pass and low pass filtering, I had a very clean 20 MHz signal as intended. At 9Vdc, single ended supply, the mixer drew 120 ma. The IC operates just above room temperature.
