Very well made, no plastic parts.
1 of 1 found this helpful This is an "old" machine, well made with steel gears and bearings. The belts wear (loose teeth) and must be replaced, and the origonal foot control is fragile. It a machine does not work at all, the foot control is the most likely suspect.
But better belts are now available and foot control units are available (aftermarket, not Bernina) for much less money that work well. If kept clean and lubed these machines will last for many more generations.

This beats the $300 system.
Much less expensuve than the big name limp, with inprovementrs in lovating the microphone. And the "dead cat" is included in the base price.

An early review on what we hope is a durable product.
This is a very early report, we have only had the control for two weeks.
The foot control work well and has presented no problems. It costs much less than the replacement from the factory. Over the years the factory origonal has exibited reliabliity issues. This is a new design, avoiding the component that fails in the factory units, and we hope will last for many years.
But, the factory foot controll worked for more than 10 years (this varies according to use). So we won't know if this control is better for some time.
The new foot controls works well and seems durable. The Bernina 830 is a solid machine. We hope this combination works for years to come.
