Recoil pad takes most of the kick away
It works good for providing cushion from the recoil. It's tricky to grind and takes some time to get it ground just right. I used a hand held belt sander, held the stock with some wood clamps and put the gunstock in a towel to protect the finish. Used masking tape to protect the wood stock close to where I was sanding. It's good for someone who is a diy'er and doesn't want the slip on kind of pad. Go slow and don't take to much off at a time. Mine turned out good but its not quite as perfect looking as the hard plastic one that came with the gun. I'm more of functionality over looks kind of person tho anyway. If you are the kind of guy that wants it 100% perfect looking, I'd go to a gunsmith that has experience with installing them.

Great case
Case works nicely to hold the rangfinder in place. Its fast to grab and I usually don't notice my rangefinder is even there until I need it. Much better than the factory case with the belt loops. The snap cover is a nice feature to protect the lens, takes a little getting used to and be careful not to lose it because it can unsnap. This is my second case like this, the first one I got for Nikon monarch 800 and have had it for about 5 years and I can tell this 1200 case is the same good quality.
