Carburetor is jetted too rich
The carburetor was jetted too rich for my R100. I spend quite some time and money for new jets to get it in the ball park to have the engine run with a good mpg and acceleration. I put in a leaner pilot jet and clip the needle to the top position to get the engine running for the first quarter. With a 170 main it is still rich for half to full throttle. Sparkplugs are black sooth for idle and half throttle. A 35 idle jet worked out OK, which is also the size when you buy a standard VM34. But those come with a 260 main, but the mains are easy replaced. For my restauration project, I was hoping to get a pre-jetted carb that would only require minor changes but I didn't expect that it was off so much. Once you tried the carb, you cannot return to nichecycle it if it doesn’t work for you. For some reason I missed that probably because I have such good experience with Amazon.

Rubber seal is nice. Seems to be better as the normal crush washer. But the magnet is rather weak. It attracts metal, but nothing compared to a rare earth magnet.
