Don't give up
You must use wax paper in their sandwich to get the words out easier. The wax paper needs to be under the paper you are cutting next to the metal plate. It doesn't work well if you place it between paper and the die. I use a metal plate with all my delicate dies, that also makes it easier to get out. Sounds weird but does make a difference.
