The Black Scorpion (DVD, 2014): Richard Denning, Mara Corday

Giant Bugs and Mexican Cowboys
I love the Black Scorpion. It is the first movie with Carlos Rivas and Pascual Garcia Peña. They teamed on The Beast of Hollow Mountain later. Mara Corday is ravishing as the Mexican Hacendada, and the hero is Richard Denning of such notable flix as Creature From The Black Lagoon, The Day the World Ended, and others. In some of the scenes the scorpion is seen only as a silhouette because the studio ran out of money and couldn't finish the paint job. The one thing I never got over was the Mexican dispatcher talking perfect English over the police radio. Good film and if you can get it for around 10.00, it's definitely worth it.

Bad mistake to order.
The movie is terribly and horribly edited. Not at all what I remember. Bad mistake in ordering a movie I remembered so fondly. Very disappointed.
The Valley of Gwangi DVD 1969 James Franciscus (MOD)

Harryhausen was a genius
I saw Gwangi when it first came out in 69. I was sixteen and in love with Dinosaurs. Harryhausen kept me in my seat all through the movie. I was amazed at the Allosaurus, blown away by the pterodactyl, as well the the triceratops, and all Of the amazing animation. Now I'm 63, and though cgi is a wonderful thing, my first love will always be stop motion. Some say Jurrassic World, I say Gwangi.
