As good as new again
1 of 1 found this helpful My original Sony Vaio laptop fan had gotten very loud when running, to the point of being embarrassing to use the laptop around other people. I'm assuming that the fan's bearings had completely failed. I thought I was going to have to scrap the laptop, but decided to see if the fan assembly was available. Luckily, I found this exact spec replacement fan. Apparently I did not have to also buy the heatsink as well, but it was convenient to replace the entire until as opposed to having to figure out how to separate my old heatsink from my old fan to reuse with this one. The relatively difficult part of the installation was removing the 14 different sized screws that hold the back cover of my laptop in place, but the replacement of the fan until was actually very straightforward (three small screws and a plug). In conjunction with the BIOS firmware updates that Sony released to quiet the fan by reducing its operating rpms, my PC is now quieter than when I first bought it! Very happy customer!
