Portable LED Tester Box Mini Light-emitting Diode Piranha Tester Box 2~150mA
Apr 26, 2017
Not too bad
This is a nice little tester for LEDs. For the price I paid, I can't complain. However, there are some issues with it that you should be aware of. First, the scale on the top connector is not correct. I tested it with a standard 5mm green LED, and found that the first three sets of contacts supply about 5mA, the next three supply about 11mA, the next five supply about 20mA, and the last two supply about 30mA. The bottom connector has contacts for a common cathode tri-color LED on the top row, first three sockets. The bottom row is for a common anode tri-color LED. However, there is a flaw in the circuit, which causes the second and third pins to be directly across the battery, with no current limiting resistor. This of course will damage any LED you place across these sockets. To fix this, you have to do some bodges to the circuit, and add in an additional 360 ohm resistor. A few minutes with some wire, an Exacto knife, and a resistor will get it working correctly. Also, the top board is held in with a single screw that is very close to two traces and a resistor, which could cause a short. Finally, a Duracell 9v battery BARELY fits into the case. You have to force it in there and dress the wire correctly. For a simple tester, this isn't all that bad. It is by no means a precision instrument, and you shouldn't expect that for about $2. It'll be great for comparing intensity on LEDs when driven at different currents, or for checking to see if an orphan LED works or not.

Nice crimper, works great
Works just as I expected for IDC and D-sub connectors. Great value at a fraction of the cost of what some others want for these.
Mobile Power 5V Highlight USB Lamp 8 Beads SMD LG 5152 LED Warm White ST

Nice light
Mine had a small issue with a cold solder joint on one of the resistors, but I was able to fix that in just a couple of minutes (mostly of diagnosing what the problem was). I like that it can be flipped either way in the USB socket. Definitely worth the couple of bucks it cost. It's VERY bright, but only uses about 0.20A or 1W of power, as measured by my USB power meter.
