Great Automatic Feeder for a 2 week Vacation
1 of 1 found this helpful I looked around at a lot of the automatic feeders that are currently offered on quite a few sites, major sellers and pet sites mostly. None of the feeders I researched had the all of the particular features I was looking for:
1. Battery powered so feeding would still happen if power is out.
2. Able to mix small and large pellet as well as different size of flake food for a single feeding.
3. Set time of day for the feeding for up to 2 weeks, or multiple feeding per day.
4. A simple and robust design that did not have parts prone to break or easily wear out.
5. Multiple ways of attaching unit to the tank or hood.
The Fish Mate F14 has all of the above features. It's design is simple and brilliant at the same time. It has a quartz battery operated timer that is positioned off center in a concentric design that moved a sectioned wheel enough to empty one section of food per timer setting. Multiple push pins are included to set time of day feedings for multiple feedings. The wheel has 14 sections where food is placed so up to 14 days of single feedings is possible.
I have used the Fish Mate F14 for a few weeks and it works as advertised. I had absolutely no issues setting up the unit or with the feedings it was dropping in the tank. I cut a hole in the tank cover on the opposite side of the tank from the filter output for the unit to drop the food into the tank and did not encounter any problem with moisture getting into the unit and spoiling the food. I use a combination of flake, dried worms, and large and small pellet food which this unit handles with no problems.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Fish Mate F14.

Rust stains after a few days
I cannot recommend this thermometer as screws holding the thermometer in the housing rusted and stained the face of the temperature scale after a few days in the pool. This is totally unacceptable.

Perfect for Tetras and automatic fish feeder
I purchased these pellets to use in an automatic fish feeder while away and both the fish and the feeder liked them fine. They are perfect for small fish like tetras. Highly recommended.
