Phenomena but characters used too much in familial plot
I saw the First, now Fourth in set at age 8 squished in front row as lines were long and saw this looking up and it was damn good even straining my neck. Looking back it was a bit young as a space "war" with glory medals at the end let alone funds. Real wars also include booty of manufacturing and companies that are then in their hands with a different tone between soldiers and shrewd politicians and businessmen. I didnt get into merchandising. Thought trailer for 2nd was a bit hokey saying Darth Vader is his father hanging on this pole in space. Other fun scenes didnt pop out. Looking back, Flannery O'Conners story at end used this as a ploy when a white grandmother as last survivor says to mobsters Im your mother, he shoots her and says "Its no fun in life!" If your enemy at that point says I'm your father or I'll be, or thats the best I can be to save my life here, I dont know what I'll do. I saw this movie way later after 3rd in set ten years later. Theres no win or glory as in 1st or 3rd but characters now entwined in family drama and Solo now to be entwined in further. Is this like European monarchs or Caesars daughters or Napoleans and Leopolds nieces as nephews just get it wrong? Return of the Jedi was fun, actors were older, the long drawn fight scenes with two villains, but one quasi Darth, didnt seem long at all at the time in terms of fight scenes now with cgi and stunt doubles and choreography. In terms of using Yoda, I would think more adept hands on and thinking more outside the box at times using just a saber in a ho hum droll nowadays compared to some martial arts ones using swords. Merchandising is great, all in fun, not quite accurate as in real life theres the Dowager Empress who kills all her own to be the Empress like Darth, and the sense of motherly in history is never done right in film I feel. Maybe a few. The series is a phenomenon, young, catering to a wide range worldwide. A bit inaccurate here and there, could use nieces, nephews abdicate or subsume in wars and disappear, etc. Great series, damn good.
