Exactly what you think it is, and at the best price...
1 of 1 found this helpful We wanted a small (medium sized) folding fire pit for the back garden that could (occasionally) be used for cooking, though primarily be used for evening fires and toasting marshmallows. This does all that. Might have to watch the paint for burnoff... exposed steel can rust pretty quickly. Will also likely make a round bag to put everything in for travel and keeping hands clean when handling it (soot).

The second generation of IXUS/ELPH, a great choice...
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a simple, easy to use camera that uses compatible parts with many other Canon digital models.
Canon used the same rechargeable battery on all of its CompactFlash memory cameras. This one features a standard mini-USB port along with a standard-ish audio/video port (using a 3.5mm plug). Later models used a proprietary Canon plug for each (ick).
The 3x zoom uses good lens technology and anyone can take great photos with this (or any other IXUS).
The only drawback on this particular model is shooting short videos. There's a fault, in that recording will stop after 30 seconds (lowest resolution) or 10 seconds (highest resolution). Canon claims the cause is slow-responding CF cards (not bought from Canon), however even the highest speed models exhibit the same problem. That being said, this is not a camcorder, it's a camera.
As a camera, it's 2 megapixel images will be much better (in terms of overall quality) than any new, cheap 5 megapixel model.
The whole IXUS line is highly recommended and these older models can be had for a song. Replacement batteries are (at the moment) cheap and plentiful, so get yourself a bargain.
