Better than destroying your caliper

Sure, you could solder wires directly to the 4 pins. In my opinion that would limit the usefulness of the caliper. With this cable you can connect to your caliper when you need it. I connected this cable to a DB9 D Sub connector. I built a circuit to shift the voltage levels up to a level an Arduino could detect. The Arduino can be programmed to read the caliper signals. From there you can go in lots of directions. Just run a search, you'll find lots of examples of programs and circuits to build on.
