Hidden Gem or Out of Date Delay?
1 of 1 found this helpful The PS-2 is a gem of a box, if you can get it for the right price. I say that because there are so many great multi-effect and delay boxes out there for very cheap, this is something of a luxury box... I'll explain why.
It provides multiple options for fx in this compact pedal: an easy 1 octave up or down; a non-harmonising, or fixed pitch shifter; various delay times ranging from very short slap-back up to 2 seconds.
The octave function is worth noting because I've found it to be more effective, as sitting well with the guitar signal , than many more modern effects boxes. I like it more for this than my Eventide H9, for example. The octave is clear and uncluttered - it's a single octave, with the original guitar signal - for some reason many effects boxes don't do this simple thing..
The manual mode is a non-harmonising, or fixed pitch shifter. I've not used this a great deal, except to slightly off-set the pitch to give a chorus sound, which adds some high end definition the signal.. like an enhancer. It's an excellent extra tool to use from this pedal.
The delay is superb and provides excellent long delay times (in it's day one of the longest in a compact pedal) great for those Brian May, 'Brighton Rock' renditions. It's quiet and quite functional - however for complex delays there are a lot more modern and functionality rich delay boxes out there.. they of course cost more. I like the tone of the delays. I've achieved inspiring delay lines with this .. I think it has some major mojo but not in a vintage way; to me it sounds modern.
These were made in both Japan and Taiwan. I haven't done a direct comparison between models produced in both countries, however I can't imagine the difference would be noticeable. Others may want to add their experience on this.

A classic album
This 'Magnification' CD is a modern classic album. Clear crisp recording of the orchestra with the band (Yes) in top form. For some reason this album is often overlooked by Yes fans. Don't let this dissuade you from investing in this album. It's got a long shelf life.

Excellent value especially for Vai fans
Great album and with the live DVD really tips it over the top as a great value package. Seeing Vai after his Zappa days , this really shows his talent early on in his career.
