Better than I thought, would recommend in special cases.
I didn't expect it to actually work, let alone work as well and immediately as it did. Couple of things worth noting; There is no easy way to use it on the main laptop or all in one screen. If you do somehow manage to use it on the main screen, you'll see a pretty massive performance hit. While using it with a secondary screen, make sure your gpu is rated for your power supply and be careful not to accidentally pull the gpu out of the dock.
Yes, it does work more effectively than thunderbolt 3 egpu (since it works on actual pcie lanes and not just usb 3.1)
Yes, with the right cpu, this will turn your laptop into a viable gaming pc (With the external monitor)
No, buying a laptop just to buy one of these and a gpu isn't a good idea when you compare it to just building a new pc.
If you already have something with an mpcie port, and you need that extra bit of performance, $50 for this and $50 for a gpu is a great upgrade.

Great machine for the price
I paid a relatively cheap price (it was marked down) but everything described arrived in box ready for assembly. It works well, doesn't hurt, and the power unit has very smooth voltage control. Big props for the little things like practice skin, and ink specifically for that practice skin so you don't waste any good ink. Your mileage may vary, but I was overall satisfied.

Good controller
If you grew up post-super nintendo era, it might not feel as comfortable to you. But for the feel of retro controllers and the functionality of a modern controller, it's a pretty sweet deal. The joysticks all have good pressure sensitivity, the triggers have clawed placement, and the small form factor isn't too small.
