Dear Walthers; make them again!
I kitbash the diaphragms on all my passenger cars, using the bellows from this set and the striker plate from the IHC diaphragms (after trimming them). My layout has 30" radius curves, and they stay closed on the curves with very little, if any, separation. They do not derail the cars except maybe during long shoving moves through "S" curves. All in all, they're well worth it! (too bad Walthers has discontinued them)

For model railroad use
I use these latching reed switches on my HO scale model railroad passenger cars and cabooses, for the marker lights to be able to switch them from one end of the car to another, by using them in pairs and a magnet to energize the lights. It works well even with brass cars, but takes several tries with the magnets to get them to switch.

Check the size first
There are two sizes of these clips; this one is the longer one and would not fit my Athearn blue box SW.
